Ministers of the unity government arrived in Benghazi today where they had officially taken over from the outgoing Interim Government.
Deputy PM, Hussain al-Qatrani, led a large ministerial delegation representing the unity government, including the ministers of interior, finance, housing and education. Local officials and dignitaries received the delegation at Benina airport before heading to the government’s headquarters in Benghazi where the handover ceremony had taken place.
Speaking at the event, al-Qatrani hailed the move as an end to years of administrative divisions and political polarisation, adding that the incoming government would strive to serve all Libyans from across the country. The deputy PM thanked the outgoing PM, Abdullah al-Thinni, and his cabinet for their public service and for facilitating a smooth transfer of power.
